Final Project pre production - Location scouting & Risk Assessment
Location Scouting
This is my location scouting form. Location scouting is where you go out to look for a location to use for your production.
You would most likely have done a little bit of research already but you might have to see the location in person to make sure it suits the production well.
The location can be any place of your choice whether its outside or inside e.g your house , a park etc.
The location scouter will know what they are looking for when it comes to searching for a place to record.
In my location scouting form it gives information on where I will be recording, pros and cons of the location, if extra equipment will be needed. Overall this will really help to decide if you should use the location or find somewhere else.
Risk Assessment
A risk assessment is where a member of the crew assesses the shooting location too see if it is a safe environment to record in. They will think about what could go wrong or cause harm no matter how unlikely.
Control measures will then need to be put in place to lower risks even if this means just warning crew members.
Health and safety is everybody's responsibility not just one persons so all members need to report any hazard they see.
Here is my risk assessment form where I basically have written all risks within the rooms I will be recording in.
I have also written down control measures and how I can make things less dangerous so no one gets hurt.
The Risk level is also useful because then I can focus on minimizing those certain risks for example my goal would be to make the 'Medium' risks go down to 'Low' meaning that the space I'm using is safer to record in.
