Types of numbers

natural numbers are whole numbers.

prime numbers- numbers that can only be divided by 1 and itself.

square numbers- product of an integer with itself: 1,4,9,16.

square root-a number which produces a specified quantity when multiplied by itself.

rational number- if it can be written as a fraction then it is rational (1 digit divided by another) e.g 17, -3, 12.4.

irrational number-  cannot be written as fractions e.g Pi. 

Pi- ratio of a circles circumference to its diameter, 3.14159, irrational number. 

Euler's number (e) - is it the limit of (1+1/n)n as n approaches infinity, an expression that arises in the study of compound interest,2.71828, interest, calculus.

Binary- A binary number is a number expressed in the base-2 numeral system or binary numeral system, a method of mathematical expression which uses only two symbols: "0" and "1"

hexadecimal- The hexadecimal number 1B7can be converted in to decimal quite easily with some algebra.

All you need to do is multiply each digit by 16 (the base of the system). 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f
