What are racing games?
a racing game is a video game genre which involves competing in races. The object of the game is to be the first player to reach the finish line successfully. they may be based on anything from real-world racing leagues to entirely fantastical, futuristic settings, and feature any type of vehicle from them being classic race cars to a made up unique looking vehicle.
F-Zero (played on snes) vs Ridge racer (played on ps classic)
Similarities:
both have ranking systems
tells you what lap your on
having to balance and control speed to avoid crashing
mini map
tells you what speed your going
time for each lap
different cars
upbeat music
Differences:
big difference in graphics, F-Zero uses sprites (2D) where as ridge racers surrounding are more realistic and has a lot of 3D buildings.
Can change perspectives in ridge racer.
Can customise cars in ridge racer
Cars in F-Zero are more futuristic
The track in F-Zero was flat however in ridge racer the map had more bumps etc.
These differences are also to do with the consoles they are played on.
